I'm obviously not the only one, but I am one of those players who is extremely introverted in the online world, which is a strange thing in my case. My everyday job is all about talking to people, providing demonstrations, and presenting in front of large groups.

Though when it comes to the online world, whether it be social media, online gaming or even forums, I become a very quiet, timid person and I'm too shy and hesitant to participate in any of the conversations. Yes, I do play a lot of online games, but I rarely join guilds, clans or use any of the communication options games provide.

If you look at my nearly 1000 hours of playtime (image below) on Monster Hunter Rise, a vast majority of that time (besides playing through the single player only quests) was done playing with random players.

"But Daniel, doesn't creating this publication make you a little hypocritical?" Well that's just the thing! I've always had so much to discuss about the state of the industry or share knowledge about certain games, but my shyness online prevents me from joining in the conversation, so I decided to create this publication to be sort of like a game journal and help me break this shyness but also as a resource to help others who are in a same boat as myself.

I will say that my closest friends are online friends, one of which I met over 15 years ago back in the Wii days when I was a teenager and clearly didn't have any anxiety about the entire online thing. At some point either I changed, the online landscape changed, or both (it's both), and that's what we're going to tackle here and so much more.

We'll go through my journey in exploring out of my comfort zone, what I did for my first steps, and what you can do to get more comfortable sharing your adventures.
